The need: If you visit the communities of Alajuelita, La Tabla, 25 de Julio and Linda Vista de Patarra which sorround the southern rim of San Jose, you can easily see financial distress, drug addiction, prostitution, violence, and domestic abuse, all of which contribute to a destructive cycle of poverty.

This cycle perpetuates itself as adults abuse their children, creating victims who in turn become abusers as they grow older. In a predictable pattern the children drop out of school at an early age. Visionless from who they can become, they turn to drugs, violence and or other illicit activities as the most inmediate solution to an endemic problem. This pattern repeats itself again an again, destroying communitites like an emotional tornado.
